M2 NET S.A. was established in 2000. From the beginning it concentrated on creating innovative and secure software protecting computer communication. First versions of the software were designed for the defence purposes but since 2001 security products have been sold to commercial customers.

In the early time of company existence the most important aspect was to protect the interface between Internet and LAN, that's why the interest was focused on firewall solutions. Next priority was confidential electronic communication. So M2 NET created secure and useful tools to encrypt SMTP communication between remote LANs.

Because of increasing viruses and internet worms and lack of rich functional software focused on e-mail security, next priority was to develop a solution for e-mail security which will include a lot of functionality by different vendors. This is one of the reasons why SMI! has several antivirus engines made by different vendors.

Since 2003 unwanted mail (SPAM) started to dominate in mail-boxes, and work efficiency has been fallen. This was the reason why M2 NET developed an innovative multi-tier anti-spam solution. In April of 2004 M2 NET finished the advanced anti-spam module based on heuristic analysis and Bayes algorithm which was able to filter unwanted messages.

Then M2 NET was concentrated on the analysis and statistics modules, which allows monitoring of users' behaviour and detects potentially dangerous incidents.

In 2004 M2 NET developed a new product: Secure Mail Intelligence! for Domino - dedicated to protect IBM Lotus Domino, both mail and databases, of course based on multi-engine solution.

In 2005 M2 NET finished the development of the first version of SMI! for Exchange dedicated to protect Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2007 both real-time and off-line modes.

Now SMI! become one of most innovative company focused on e-mail security, which extracts text and data from multiple nested attachments and files, prevents leakage of data. SMI! provides easy to use and comfortable policy based configuration.

Between 2000 and 2008 SMI! has been installed on more than 350 000 computers worldwide. SMI! is used by biggest companies from Fortune 500 list and dozens of companies treat data sent via email as valuable good of the enterprise.
